Mission Statement

The Iranian Student Cultural & Aesthetic Organization (ISCAO) steadily works toward creating a united Persian community, on and off the UC Davis campus. 

We, as a group of Iranian students, founded the organization because assimilation in a foreign land was leading to a loss of heritage. 

The primary goal of ISCAO is to educate everyone, including ourselves, about the Persian culture, its practices, and its illustrious history.

With the cooperation of various student organizations and surrounding Persian communities, we hope to achieve our goal through the following activities:

o Inviting guest lecturers to the UC Davis campus

o Showing Iranian motion pictures & documentaries

o Instituting Farsi classes

o Producing cultural celebrations in honor of Persian holidays

We hope that with our efforts, we may soon be witnesses to a flourishing community of Persians united in a quest for education and friendship.

	Arrezo: Hey everyone! My name is Arrezo Moghaddasi and I am a fourth year Biochemistry and Molecular Biology major. This is my first year on the ISCAO board and I will be your secretary. I have been a part of this group since freshman year and I am very excited to be working with one of the best clubs here at UC Davis. I will be in charge of making sure that all the events that ISCAO hosts are approved with the school and I’ll be working close with UC Davis to make ISCAO a big part of campus. I am looking forward to a wonderful year filled with great events. I am also looking forward to meeting a lot of new people and sharing each experience with everyone!!	Danoush: Hello everyone! My name is Danoush Ahmadi and I will be the media coordinator for the 2008-2009 year. I'm really excited to be part of ISCAO. I will be mostly in charge of the website but I do also take care of many technical computer-related issues as well. I plan to improve the website and make it a little more organized. Also, I hope to have some sort of collaborate photo album initiative so that any member who wishes to post pictures of an ISCAO event to the website could do so. If anybody has any suggestions or comments about the listserv, facebook, or website, let me know! Also, if there are any artistically gifted people out there who want to help with the graphic design aspect please feel free to drop me a line. I know we will all have an outstanding year together!

Dorud be hamegi, my name is Ario. I’m a 4th year majoring in Biological Sciences. I’m your Social Coordinator, and I’m really excited we have a great team this year that will bring you many shows and activities. A little about me I was born and raised in Shiraz; my family and I moved to United States when I was fifteen; my high school experience took place in the Folsom/Sacramento area. My duties will be organizing our annual Fall and Spring Formal as well as the Ski Trip. My goal is to attract other students to our organization by making these events more fun than the ones in the past and come up with more exciting social events to bring our Persian community closer together. Cheers to a year full of excitement and success.	Hey everyone! I'm Shadee Amirkiai and I am this year's Nowrouz Show Coordinator. I'm really looking forward to preparing for the show with all who will be participating! Last year was my first year at Davis, and I was fortunate enough to be in the Nowrouz show. I think you should all take advantage of the opportunity this year! If you are interested in dancing, singing, playing music, acting, reading poetry, being an MC,etc. or just helping out backstage please contact me! I'm excited to meet everyone!	Hey Everyone! My name is Tannaz Shooshtarian and I’m a fourth year majoring in Exercise Biology and minoring in French. I will be your Outreach coordinator for the 2008-2009 academic year. I’m hoping to plan a few fundraisers and outreach events for the year to help support an organization in Tehran. I’ve been seeing a lot of new faces and I can’t wait to see you all at ISCAO’s events because they are not only fun, but you will make lasting friendships and amazing memories. If you ever see me around, please don’t hesitate to introduce yourself and say hello!
