I love the food at Ali Baba's. It's a Davis staple, and it's just
off the UC Davis campus. Their daily specials are the best deal on
the menu. Wednesday's and Friday's specials are my favorite. Wed.
is a curry chicken with yogurt on the side and lots of dill & lima
bean flavored rice. Fri. is pomegranate chicken with walnuts and
basmati rice. I know they sound a little odd, but the combination
of flavors are intense and mouth watering, never over powering.
Their burgers are generous, and you have to try the fries. I think
the fries are best when taken to-go and left to sweat in the paper
bag for a little while (about as long as it takes to get to class
;)). Their burritos are also great, very juicy, Mediterranean
style, with lots of cucumber yogurt. Calling in your order,
because sometimes there’s a wait.

Monday 11/22/04 - Movie Night: Marmoolak
Come and watch an Iranian movie with
friends. Wellman 2 at 8pm.
A satirical snipe at the life of Iran's clergy, "Marmoulak"
("The Lizard"), has become a box office hit here after only narrowly
making it through the Islamic republics scissor-wielding censors.
Director Kamal Tabrizi's film begins with a daring prison escape by
convicted thief and anti-hero Reza, jailed for life for being caught
one too many times.
